Ulfheðnar (pronounced Oolf-Hath-nar) meaning 'Wolf Skin' are humans infected with the disease of Lycanthropy which gives them the ability to transform into a wolf or a hybrid of wolf and man. Ulfheðnar can change at will to and from animal and hybrid form, but on a night of a full moon, they transform involuntarily, and will remain in animal form until sunrise.
Whilst not inherently evil, in animal or hybrid form Ulfheðnar's must pass a morale check or attack any potential prey creature on sight, including friends and allies. and as such, these creature often live away from, or at best on the fringes of human settlements

Special Rules: | Human form: Have physical characteristics reminiscent of the associated animal type.
Mundane Damage Regeneration: In Animal form, can only be permanently harmed by silver weapons, magic or Fire. Damage caused by mundane weapons regenerates at a rate of 1d4 Hit Points per round. Regeneration can also occur after the werewolf has fallen below 0 HP.
Languages: In human form, can speak normally. In animal form, can only speak with animals of the associated type.
Armour: Not used if shape-changing
Wolf Friend: +4 reaction roll with wolves
Wolfsbane: If hit with a bundle, must save versus poison or flee in terror. If hit with a weapon (mundane or otherwise) coated with extract of wolfsbane, must save vs death or die in 1d4 rounds
Reversion: If killed, a Ulfheðnar reverts to its human form.
Scent: Horses and some other animals can smell Ulfheðnar and will become afraid.
Infection: A human who loses more than ½ their hit points from Ulfheðnar’s natural attacks (i.e. bites, claws) must make a save vs death or contract lycanthropy. Humans become werewolves; non-humans are unaffected. The disease takes full effect in 2d12 days, showing signs of infection after half the time. |
